I first started translating Roberto Bolaño's poetry in 2006, when his work was still relatively unknown to the English-speaking world. Under the tutelage of Forrest Gander, I translated Bolaño's The Romantic Dogs for my undergraduate thesis, and New Directions published the collection in 2008. I went on to translate Tres (New Directions, 2011) and The Unknown University (New Directions, 2013).

My translations of Bolaño and other Latin American poets have appeared in the New Yorker, Harper’s, Paris Review, the Believer, the Nation, and many other journals. The Unknown University was a finalist for the Best Translated Book Award.
