Laura Healy grew up in the Blackstone Valley of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. She began translating Roberto BolaƱo's poetry as an undergraduate at Brown University, where she studied literary translation and Latin American studies. In 2010 she received a Master's degree in Romance languages and literatures from Harvard.

Healy is currently the digital publications editor at Harvard Review, where she previously served as managing editor. She also teaches writing at the Harvard Extension School.
